Monday explained...

Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Everything has its time...

Fly away...

The Urban Initiative....

So... it crossed my mind tonight, that I haven't informed you of something that is a really big part of my life... its called The Urban Initiative, here is where you can find us. We used to be called Spring Break in the City, we felt like we were being called to make some big changes this year, and the name was just the beginning. We are an organization that goes into urban areas ans we just show God's love and we just go alongside the people there, and just do what we can for them. At the same time, we are exposing students at our college to the inner workings of what urban areas look like. This organization is incredible. I love it, and stand behind it. I just wanted to let you all know, and show you where you can find our organization!!!

Human trafficking and the sex trade ---- intense subject matter

(picture from different organization, but same purpose)
Many of you know that I am passionate about the abolishment of the sex trade and human trafficking, that being said, tomorrow kicks off the beginning of what is called "Global focus week" at our college. A group I am involved with, The Urban Initiative, is doing a video showing called Playground. Tonight we had a meeting to go over it and to discuss what we will be doing tomorrow. Once again it was heart wrenching and made me upset/angry/sad/confused/livid... and all kinds of other emotions. And once again the wheels started turning and the fire burned inside of me and all I could think was "how can I help?" What can I do? How can I change this? It was brought to my attention that this is not all on "us," we have a loving God, who is there for us, who loves us and who is still in charge when all these atrocious things are happeing. So, the first thing we are doing is showing the video tomorrow, on campus at 7pm. The next thing I want to start doing is working on ways to change this, even in the smallest way. I want to start something and it seems very overwhelming and daunting, but at the same time, I have so many ideas. I am prayerful that these ideas will become actions, that I won't get distracted by life, school, work, etc.
Here is the wonderful foundation that put this real documentary together. They are known as the Nest Foundation. I would love for all of you to visit their site! And if you can, make it out for their video tomorrow night!

blog lovin'

PS... there's reason to celebrate!!!

(she's the one on the left, and yes, thats me on the right)

My bestest friend in the whole wide world turned 21 today!!!! She will probably never read this, but I wanted to post it anyways. I am so thankful to have her in my life. She is the voice of reason, the girl i can be silly with, serious, goofy, quiet, loud and fun with. She listens to all my problems, and I listen to all of hers. We have known each other since we were 3 years old, we were destined to be best friends, because without our parents knowing it they moved us from one school to another and both planned on sending us to a different school, but we still would have been there together. Anyways, she is the one woman in this world that I can tell absolutely anything to and I know she will never judge me, laugh at me or scold me, she will simply listen, say her peace, and love me. I love her so much, and I am so happy that she is my best friend. I hope that she has the most amazing 21st birthday in the world because she deserves it.
Happy 21st Birthday Alyssa!!!

Life check-up

Hey guys,
So... my lack of sleep, and non-stop, stress filled schedule has finally caught up with me. I have laryngitis, or so I was told when i was kicked out of dance class to go to the health center. I have not had a voice for the past 3 days and it has been such a pain. If you know me at all, you know I LOVE to talk. So I have been forced to bed by teachers and bosses. I just had a big bowl of chicken soup from Little Alex's (as recommended by the school nurse) and currently I am doing homework while laying on the couch. This is one of life's little wake-up calls that yes i do in fact need sleep, and taking care of myself is important. Just wanted to let you all know. Hopefully I will be better soon, I can only be down for so long.

in the comfort of your arms

this is the feeling evoked

excerpt from my life

Currently I feel like running is all I can do to keep up with my life lately. I think i have had maybe a total of 4 days to myself in the past 2mos. Life is crazy, two jobs, and school full time is kind of insane. But a good insane, along with SBIC, softball, church, and my added on urban issues class(for fun) some weeks are kind of a blur... But soo good too! I did my first wedding on my own, and it was amazing! I love weddings, they are my favorite. I had a week of working, 25pages due, 2 tests and classes, when I made it through that I thought that was the worst of it. But then I got into a car accident, not a big one, but it was just annoying. Things have slowed a little, not much, but its still an exciting time in my life. I'm a senior, I have 2mos and 2 weeks until I am offically done with college. Our Toast store has opened and we are officially working in a real office, its amazing! And all around I am supported by some of the most wonderful people, friends, family, co-workers, roommates, I feel so loved. It has been a crazy/insane/emotional/hectic/chaotic/frenzied/loving/very full 2months. There is my life in about a paragraph. sorry this blog has become a little perfunctory. I will try to work on that.
